How Julie Eberly was identified as the mother of six who died in an incident with a random, rabid driver on the road in Lumberton, North Carolina, while on her way to a beach vacation with her husband, according to the authorities said. She was from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and was traveling with her husband to celebrate their wedding anniversary.
“The murder occurred on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at around 11:40 am on the I95 South Freeway, Lumberton NC, near Exit 22,” the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department wrote in a news release. The suspect is a fugitive and is not identified.
Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said in a statement: “This was an innocent family from Pennsylvania heading to the beach on vacation. Fortunately, they had left their six children at home with their grandparents, but now these children have to live with the idea that their mother was murdered in such a cowardly and senseless way. My heart goes out to this family and I ask that all who read this stop and pray for this whole family. “

The Sheriff’s Department announced a $ 10,000 reward According to a press release from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Department, there are now a reward of $ 10,000 for “information leading to probable cause for the issuance of warrants and the arrest of the suspect responsible for the murder of Julie Eberly.”
An anonymous donor gave the reward money to the Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s Department says Eberly was shot in the passenger door The Sheriff’s Department gave this account of what happened to Eberly:
“On Thursday, March 25, 2021, at approximately 11:40 am, officers were dispatched to (tend to) someone who was shot near Exit 22 on I95 north of Lumberton. Lumberton police, Robeson County Sheriffs, North Carolina State Highway Patrol officers, and emergency medical services arrived to find the shooting victim, Julie Eberly, 47, of Mannheim, Pennsylvania. He had been shot through the passenger door. Her husband, Ryan Eberly, was not injured. Immediate assistance was provided until she was transported to UNC Southeastern, where she later died. “

The press release went on to explain details of the investigation.
“So far, the investigation has revealed a road rage encounter with unknown development. The victims’ vehicle approached the suspect vehicle during a single-lane junction. The suspect vehicle passed the victim’s passenger side. The suspect rolled down the window and fired multiple shots at the passenger door, one of which hit Julie Eberly. Witnesses then say the suspect sped up and took off at Exit 22, crossing the bridge into Lumberton. The victims’ vehicle stopped on I95 to await assistance ”.
The suspect vehicle is described as a possible 2010 Chevrolet Malibu or Impala, silver or gray in color, with tinted windows and possibly chrome around the window frame. The suspect is described as an African American with dreadlocks.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division “is leading the investigation and continues to search for video footage or eyewitness accounts of the highway rage incident, which occurred between marker 23 and 25, along Highway I95 South. The suspect vehicle then exited via Exit 22, entering Lumberton on Fayetteville Road, ”the sheriff’s statement said.
Eberle, who was described as caring and generous, was on her way to a vacation when she was murdered A GoFundMe page To help Eberly’s family she says she was going on vacation when she was killed.
“Our dear Julie was taken from us too early in a senseless shooting in Lumberton, North Carolina, on her way to vacation,” the page says. “We want to raise funds to honor Julie and her life. Julie was a beautiful, loving, generous and given person. We will use the funds to help others and to give to organizations that were close to his heart. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers from the Lumberton and Manheim / Lancaster communities. May Julie’s death not be in vain and may her memory live in what can be given in her name ”.
The fund has raised more than $ 33,000.

The Sheriff’s Department shared information about a GoFundMe page to help Eberly’s family.

Eberly and her husband had just celebrated their wedding anniversary According to WMBF-TV, Eberly and her husband had just celebrated their wedding anniversary and were heading to the Hilton Head vacation spot for a vacation.
It was their seventh wedding anniversary and they were celebrating it.

On Facebook, Eberly said her name was Julie Bittner Eberly. She wrote that she went to Manheim Central High School, lived in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and was from Manheim, Pennsylvania.
