The 29-year-old mother who is suspected of killing her young baby in her home in North last August tried to strangle one of her other children in a psychosis six years ago. Because a friend of the mother was able to intervene, the child barely survived. The woman must appear in court next Wednesday.

The suspect was arrested more than two months ago, on the night of 16 to 17 August, in a house on the Hagenau in Noord after the police received a report about a woman with confused behavior. In the house, the police then found two children and the body of a lifeless baby less than a month old. The woman would also have tried to dispose of the body.
According to lawyer Theo Schut, his client had once again ‘really lost the ride’. ‘I don’t know whether it was another psychosis. Experts need to look at that. But it will go that way. ‘
Wurgpoging
In July 2014 it also went wrong. The woman was then convinced that her 1.5 year old daughter was possessed by the devil. The devil had to be driven out and she tried to strangle her daughter. Just in time, a friend of the mother kicked the door of the house, allowing the child to be released.
In a report by the psychologist and psychiatrist it was then stated that the woman lost control over her behavior because of the brief psychosis. “Her choices and decisions were driven by her psychotic experiences.” She was dismissed from prosecution by the court in 2015. After the event she received intensive psychological counseling.
Very serious
According to lawyer Schut, it is very serious that things have gone wrong again. ‘At the time, she raised the alarm in advance, but action was not taken in time. I don’t know how things could have gone wrong again. ‘
The family was still known to the authorities. For example, it was supervised by youth protection. A youth protection employee said he was “taken aback by the news” about the death of the baby. Several aid organizations in the city are also said to have been involved with the family.
The suspect will appear in court on Wednesday. This is not a substantive treatment, but a so-called pro forma session at which it is decided whether she should remain in prison any longer.
