Mother formally arrested for parricide of her 38-week-old son
DanlĂ. El ParaĂso. – The Public Prosecutor’s Office, through the Special Prosecutor’s Office for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (FEP-NIĂ‘EZ), in an initial hearing managed to get a judge to order a formal indictment with the precautionary measure of preventive detention against Oneyda Suyapa Montenegro Cerrato, for allegedly being responsible for the crime of parricide to the detriment of her newborn son.
Investigations carried out by agents of the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) establish that on August 31, 2024, in a village in the municipality of Trojes, department of El ParaĂso, the accused had presented internal bleeding since she was pregnant, for which she was transferred to the Gabriela Alvarado hospital in DanlĂ, El ParaĂso.
Montenegro Cerrato’s sister-in-law went to the house and noticed that there was blood in the hallway, living room, kitchen and patio. She therefore set about cleaning and washing the sheets that were covered in blood. While in the backyard of the house near the bathroom and the sink, she noticed that there was a lot of blood and followed its trail, which led her to a wall where she saw that there was a small hole. When she inspected the hole, she found the small body of a newborn covered with a red cloth. She then decided to notify the village assistant, so that he could inform the authorities of what had happened.
In this sense, agents of the Police Investigation Directorate (DPI) went to the place, carrying out an inspection and collecting evidence where it was confirmed that indeed, there was a baby attached to its umbilical cord and placenta; thus, the DanlĂ Prosecutor’s Office on Duty carried out the lifting of the newborn, finding that the creature had blows to its head, which is why it died; In addition, a Capurro Test was performed which resulted in the baby being 38 weeks pregnant, thus as a result of the investigation and the evidence collected, the preventive detention of Oneyda Montenegro was ordered.
