A 26-year-old mother, who beheaded her six-year-old son in a satanic ritual in Brazil, died in hospital after being shot by police who tried to arrest her, reports Daily Mail.
On September 20, police officers in the northeastern Brazilian city of João Pessoa went to Maria Mendes‘ apartment after receiving calls from neighbors who said they had heard a child calling for help.
Audio recordings made by these neighbors and which were given to investigators allow us to hear Ms. Mendes’ son, Miguel Alves, shouting: “Help, I’m going to die!”, “Help me!” and “Mom, I love you!”
Paraiba Military Police
When the police arrived at the home, they discovered the 26-year-old mother sitting on a chair with her son’s head on her knees.
The officers then attempted to arrest the woman, but she attacked them with a knife. The police then opened fire, hitting Maria Mendes 14 times.
She miraculously survived despite the number of projectiles that hit her. However, the 26-year-old woman developed an infection to which she succumbed Thursday morning, almost a month later.

While searching his apartment, investigators discovered numerous videos of satanic beheading rituals. They also found a cat in pain in a room.
The police do not yet know what pushed Maria Mendes to kill her son.
Had she survived her injuries, the suspect would have faced charges of murder, attempted murder and cruelty.
