“Mother and Daughter Provide Free Water to Those in Need in Tirur, Kerala”

Tirur ∙ Mother Padmavati and her daughter Girija gave enough water to those who were suffering from water shortage during the severe summer. From their home in Chemmur near Triprang, more than twenty-five liters of water is transported free of charge every day in more than 25 lorries. They are reserving the perennial abundance of water in the 2 wells in the homestead for the locals to use.

It has been 7 years since the fresh water supply vehicles started reaching their house in summer. Fresh water is taken from here to Ponnani Municipality, Thriprangode, Mangalam, Bailoor, Thalakkad and Vettam panchayats. There are motors for this. They also pay the electricity bill.

Padmavati’s mother was a farmer. Girija is a retired teacher from Thrikandyur PPNMAUP School. Both of them say that as long as they get clean water in the wells in the backyard, they will provide it to everyone. Girija’s sons Anush C. Nair, Dr. Arjun.C.Nair also supported.
