A mother and baby die during delivery at Pantura MA Sentot Patrol Regional Hospital, Indramayu Regency, West Java, last Tuesday (19/12).

The family suspects that there was wrong handling during the birthing process. Tarsun (30), the victim’s husband and father, reported the incident to the police.

Tarsun came with his attorney. He reported the alleged malpractice experienced by his wife and child.

“After the baby died, it was between 15 minutes or 20 minutes before my wife died. Yes, she reported it to the police,” said Tarsun, quoted from detik.com.

Indramayu Police Chief AKBP M Fahri Siregar confirmed that his party had received reports from residents of Kertawinangun Village, Kandanghaur District, Indramayu Regency. The family suspects there was malpractice at the hospital.

“So today we received a report from one of the residents in which the person concerned reported alleged malpractice related to the handling of the birth of his deceased wife which occurred yesterday,” said Fahri.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Pantura MA Sentot Patrol Regional Hospital, Ndaru Takaryanto, said that the patient’s delivery process was carried out according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Ndaru admitted that after receiving information about the death incident, his party immediately carried out an investigation to determine the factors behind the incident.

“From our investigation, the management team got the information last night, then we immediately sent a team from the Head of Yanma, Head of TU, ​​all levels of management here went together to investigate the incident,” said Ndaru, Wednesday (20/12) .

From this investigation, Ndaru denied any malpractice as reported by the victim’s husband to the police. He ensured that the handling of the victim’s delivery was in accordance with the SOP.

“From the conclusions we got, the treatment was in accordance with the applicable SOP,” he said.

Meanwhile, obstetrician Iwan Budianto said that the patient’s gestational age at that time was only 8 months old. Reportedly, the patient had undergone a massage.

At the puskesmas, said Iwan, the patient was referred to the hospital because he was experiencing contractions. Taking into account the patient’s condition, the medical team then carried out the delivery.

“Half an hour later, at the eighth opening, it turned out to be complete. At this complete opening, we then determined that this patient had to be born. Then delivery was carried out using an episiotomy, which made the birth canal easier to expel the baby more quickly,” said Iwan.

“The baby was born at 20.54 WIB, the baby was born and died during delivery because the umbilical cord was entangled,” he explained.
