Motamed Gamal: I changed the way Zamalek played between the two halves of the Abu Salim – Al-Shorouk match

Motamed Gamal, technical director of Zamalek Club, expressed his happiness with the victory achieved by Al-Abyad over Abu Salim Al-Libi, in the African Confederation Cup competitions.

Motamed Gamal said in statements at the press conference after the match between Zamalek and Abu Salim: “Thank God for the win. We achieved our goal of winning and getting three points at the beginning of the group stage campaign.”

He added: “We were hoping that the result would be greater than winning by one goal, but the important thing is to get the three points. I spoke with the players before the match that the team’s previous start was not good in the Confederation.”

He continued: “Abu Salim’s team changed the method of play and relied on defensive formation, which made the match difficult. I changed the method of play between halftime, and made changes in order to increase offensive effectiveness.”

He continued: “After Zamalek was late in scoring, it brought in Nasser Mansi, and relied on an attacking duo with Youssef Obama as a free player, and the latter was able to score the winning goal.”

He continued: “The match was good in general, despite winning by one goal, and the friendly matches that the team played were intended to prepare players like Samson and Nasser Mansi, but I preferred not to start with them so as not to put pressure on them.”

He added: “Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala is a great player, and any match he participates in he makes a great addition, and his effectiveness is greater when he is fielded in the starting lineup for matches.”

Motamed Jamal concluded his statements by saying: “We always try to correct the mistakes and negatives that the team makes, such as shooting on goal and others.”

Zamalek Club defeated Abu Salim Al Libyan with a clean goal, in the match that was held this Sunday evening at Burj Al Arab Stadium in Alexandria, for the first round of the African Confederation Cup.
