There are six Bayern players in the most valuable Bundesliga eleven from 20 years of market values on Transfermarkt – the other nominees used BVB and RB Leipzig as a springboard to Manchester or Madrid, while the future of Bayer professional Florian Wirtz is up in the air. Six Bundesliga players broke the 100 million mark from 2004 to 2024 and most of them did so wearing the Borussia Dortmund jersey.

He was by no means the most expensive departure, as he left Borussia for Manchester City in 2022 for 60 million euros due to an exit clause.
Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham were also able to increase their market value to 130 million and 120 million euros respectively during their time in Dortmund and are among the top 5 most expensive Bundesliga departures. While the form and market value curve for Bellingham and Haaland continued to show an upward trend after their departure from black and yellow, these parameters experienced a slump for Sancho after he signed with Manchester United. Only a six-month loan to BVB that saw him reach the final of the Champions League stopped the downward trend, which pushed his market value from 130 million to 25 million euros within four years.
Behind Haaland are the national players Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, whose market value is each 130 million euros – making them not only the most valuable professionals in the Bundesliga at the moment, but also the most valuable German footballers ever. The potential to further increase their values is present in both cases.
The place in the center of attack next to Haaland goes to Harry Kane, whose market value climbed to 110 million euros after his 95 million euro move to Munich. Robert Lewandowski, whose highest value was 90 million euros in 2017/18, was denied a place in the most valuable eleven.
In addition to Kane and Musiala, Alphonso Davies (80 million), Matthijs de Ligt (75 million), Joshua Kimmich (70 million) and Manuel Neuer (45 million) made it into the most valuable eleven from the record champions. Kimmich was last used primarily as a right-back in the 2018/19 season; at his career high of 90 million euros in 2020/21, he played in central midfield. After the World Cup title, Neuer’s market value was 45 million euros, which meant he made it into the world’s most valuable team of the 2014/15 season.
Josko Gvardiol, whom Manchester City made the most expensive defender in history with a transfer fee of 90 million euros in the summer of 2023, completes the historically most valuable selection. In the 2022/23 season, the market value of the former Leipzig player climbed to 75 million euros.
