Most Germans support compulsory vaccination against Covid-19 / Article

According to a poll by YouGov, 63% of respondents support compulsory vaccination against Covid-19.

30% of respondents indicated that they did not support such a step, but 7% of respondents did not answer. The survey, conducted from Wednesday to Friday, involved 2,067 people.

Olaf Scholz, leader of the German Social Democrats (SPD), the future German chancellor, has announced that the German parliament will vote in favor of vaccination against Make Covid-19 mandatory. He pointed out that compulsory vaccination should be introduced in early February or March, so action should be taken now.

The Robert Koha Institute (RKI) has reported a small drop in the number of new Covid-19 cases. The institute registered 42,055 new cases of Covid-19 and reported a seven-day morbidity rate of 439.2 cases per 100,000 population in Germany. A week ago, the figures were 44,401 and 446.7.

However, the RCI warned that many cases of Covid-19 are unlikely to be reported because the large number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients does not allow time for healthcare professionals to track and record all cases.

Folker Vising, who is expected to take over the post of transport minister in the new German government, warned Germans not to visit distant relatives at Christmas.

“The winter of 2021 will be more dramatic than the winter of 2020. We cannot stop taking the coronavir seriously,” Vising told Bild am Sonntag, urging Germans to keep social contacts to a minimum.
