For the analysis, RealtyHop looked at the five-county metro area surrounding Los Angeles. The New York metropolitan area includes neighboring New Jersey and Long Island counties.

Both cities are wealth magnets, with New York City ranking first overall in the number of millionaire residents.. and Los Angeles in sixth place, according to a recent study. However, that study didn’t include Long Island, which includes even more affluent residents living in the Hamptons.
