Most clicked Instagram reel in the world: Franke breaks a record

– His Instagram reel has already been viewed more than 735 million times, shattering the previous world record. To date, no video from Bamberg’s Matthias Luft has been viewed more often on the platform. This is about a special topic.

It’s not about bare skin, crazy challenges, absurd trends or fitness and beauty tips. And yet, within just a few weeks, the Instagram reel published by the Bamberg car blogger Matthias Luft became the most clicked video of its kind in the world.

The reel now has more than 735 million views – more than 150 million more than the previous leader. “We posted it while we were on vacation in South Tyrol. I only looked again after two hours. I think after two hours we had 80 million views. It went through the roof. Absolutely crazy,” Luft told the News5 agency.

Already many successful Reels with channel “motoreport”

The video shows a car crash test. A dummy vehicle comes racing from the side to nerve-wracking background music and crashes into the driver’s door. Luft, who is behind the wheel, uses the short video to illustrate how the safety system of a German manufacturer works.

The approaching vehicle is detected via side sensors. Shortly before the impact, the previously opened window on the driver’s side moves up, the belt tightens and the hazard warning lights come on.

The sequence is only ten seconds long – and yet it has become a fantastic success. Luft has already enjoyed notable successes with the Instagram channel “motoreport”. He has 360,000 followers and has created several Reels, each of which has received several million views. In 2022, he posted one that garnered over 60 million views. But his new world record reel reached completely new dimensions.

Luft not only makes short videos, but also runs the online magazine “Motoreport”, and has been doing so since 2012. In addition, he has been posting detailed videos on YouTube and short versions of them on Instagram and other social media platforms for years. Platforms. He has now produced hundreds of videos like this.

These include driving reports of cars well before their market launch. However, the focus is usually on the technology. Luft is particularly fond of advanced assistance systems and technical gadgets. “Motoreport” has been at the top of the ranking of the top 100 auto blogs several times and is always in the top positions there.

“That was our special topic again. Assistance systems. We’ve been showing them in Instatech reels for a long time, i.e. in ten second reels. And it went through the roof because everything was just right,” Luft explains to News5. At the moment of impact, he looks away in the video, it is not immediately clear to those watching that a dummy was involved, tension is created.

The impact wasn’t entirely without impact anyway. It was a foam car that hit the driver’s side at 35 km/h, but the force was enough to cause a dent in the door.

A billion views on Instagram?

Can the video break the billion mark? Luft is unsure to News5: “We would like that. But it’s not rising so quickly anymore. I’m not sure whether it will still work.”
