In addition to the traditional The Game Awards conference, December also brought several expected titles. For example, we saw the release of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora from Ubisoft or the survival game The Day Before, which was only available for a few days. The free expansion for God of War Ragnarök called Valhalla, the strategy Against the Storm or the isometric RPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader also aroused interest among players.
In the opening month of 2024, players will see the return of several well-known series. For example, the new Prince of Persia with the subtitle The Lost Crown, the eighth part of the fighting game Tekken, or the continuation of the Like a Dragon series with the nickname Infinite Wealth are all for attention. Other expected games are worth highlighting remaster The Last of Us Part II nebo strategie War Hospital a New Cycle.
Portal: Revolution
- Platform: PC
- Date of publication: January 5th
- Location: it is
- Cena: for free
We usually don’t include community mods in our monthly Most Anticipated Games reviews. But we will make an exception in the case of the project called Portal Revolution. The game from developer Stefan Heinz builds on the technical foundation of Portal 2 and offers 8 hours of gameplay and over 40 unique and series-typical puzzles. The ambitious community project will also offer its own story, which will precede the events of the second part.
War Hospital
- Platform: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
- Date of publication: January 11th
- Location: it is
- Cena: 40 euros/1000 CZK
Ever since the announcement, the upcoming title War Hospital has been watched with interest mainly by fans of strategies and the game Frostpunk, from which the developers from the Polish studio Brave Lamb were inspired, at least in terms of visual representation and emphasis on choices. The game will take you to the period of the First World War, where you will have to take care of the functioning of a British field hospital. In addition to infirmary management and elections, the authors also promise an emphasis on survival mechanics and historical accuracy.
New Cycle
- Platform: PC (early access)
- Date of publication: January 18th
- Location: it is
- Cena: we don’t know
The above-mentioned game War Hospital will surprisingly not be the only January game that, at first glance, does not hide its inspiration from Frostpunk. The developers of the New Cycle strategy also want to bring an honest survival strategy in which elections will be present. At the same time, New Cycle will focus on a post-apocalyptic setting with an admixture of dieselpunk. In this world destroyed by a solar eruption, you will try to build a new civilization.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
- Platform: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
- Date of publication: January 18th
- Location: it is
- Cena: 50 euros/1250 CZK
After fourteen long years, a new part of the Prince of Persia series will be released in mid-January. The novelty with the subtitle The Lost Crown wants to return to the roots of this brand. In terms of genre, it will therefore fall into the genre of 2.5D platformers, from which the individual mechanics and composition of the game world will also be derived.
Developers from the Ubisoft Montpellier studio are enticing about the new hero Sargon and the presence of mechanics borrowed from metroidvania games. There will also be gradual improvement of the main protagonist’s abilities and frequent fights with enemies.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered

- Cena: 50 euros/1250 CZK (for owners of the original version, upgrade for 10 euros)
Developers from the Naughty Dog studio will bring the long-awaited remaster of The Last of Us Part II for PlayStation 5 in January. In addition to a higher resolution and framerate, the improved version will also bring real textures and shadows. Players can also look forward to faster upload times, DualSense controller support or a completely new roguelike mode called No Return. In addition to these novelties, the remaster will also include several locations that ultimately did not make it into the original version of the game.
Enshrouded
- Platform: PC (early access)
- Date of publication: January 24th

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy

At the end of the month, Capcom will bring a collection of the Ace Attorney series to current gaming devices, which will include a total of three older installments. Specifically, they are the games Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (2007), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies (2013) and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice (2016), which were originally released on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS consoles. Fans of Japanese works who also adore adventure games and visual novels will definitely find something to their liking.

The eighth part of the well-known RPG series will take you to Hawaii in an unusual way, where you will search for your long-lost mother in the shoes of Ichiban Kasuga. Of course, various gangs and the individual Yakuza will also be involved in the story.
Tekken 8

The return of the fighting game Tekken also proves that the end of the month will be mainly in the style of Japanese games.
