“Burns will meet with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, with Iran’s nuclear program and its activities in the region high on their agenda,” the Israeli government said.
Israeli television station Channel 12 reported that, during a meeting with Mossad officials Burns was given a document containing Israel’s assessment of Raisi. Also read: Israeli woman shot in the head while driving, in critical condition
According to Channel 12, as reported by Sputnik on Thursday (12/8/2021), Mossad shamelessly described Raisi as cruel, corrupt and unstable. Mossad also described Raisi as someone who cannot be trusted and cannot be negotiated with.
This move was likely taken by Israel to prevent the US from resuming nuclear talks with Iran, which are currently suspended. The indirect talks which took place in Vienna, Austria are planned to be continued in September.
