Mossad boss Yossi Cohen retires from Saudi Arabia-backed SoftBank

TEL AVIV – The world’s largest venture capital firm, SoftBank, has appointed a former head of Mossad Yossi Cohen to head his new office at Israel . Saudi Arabia is one of the parties providing investment support for the company.

Cohen’s new position was reported by the Israeli business newspaper, Globes.

SoftBank is seen as the world’s leading technology fund, having invested large sums of money into companies such as Uber, Alibaba and TikTok.

The Saudi Arabia-backed venture capital group will become the second investment giant to open an office in Israel in the last three months, after Blackstone.

According to reports Globes reported Saturday (10/7/2021), although Cohen has no investment background, SoftBank relies on his status as a “famous and popular” figure in Israel.
