Mosque Congregation Shot during Fajr Prayer, 18 Died

NIGER – Armed groups in Nigeria enter the mosque and shooting the worshipers who are praying at dawn on Monday (10/25/2021). A total of 18 worshipers died and more than 10 others were kidnapped.

The assailants on motorbikes visited a mosque in the northern Nigerian state of Niger.

Local residents said the attackers arrived at the Maza-Kuka community in the Mashegu local government area at around 5am.

“They came and went straight to the mosque and opened fire on the worshipers without sparing anyone,” local resident Abdulganiyu Hassan told AFP. Reuters, Tuesday (26/10/2021).

Hassan confirmed that more than 10 other worshipers were kidnapped.

Bello Ayuba, a resident and other eyewitness, said at least 20 people were injured.

A spokesman for the Niger state police did not immediately respond to a phone call or text message seeking comment.

Meanwhile, the Police Command in Niger said a number of people were killed during the morning prayers.
