Thionville will be, this Friday, December 3, under the spotlight of France Televisions since the municipality of North Moselle has been selected as one of the ambassador cities of the Telethon 2021. These December 3 and 4, eight cities, in seven regions of France , are united around a common challenge for the 35 e Telethon. Thionville (57), Evry (91), Le Touquet (62), Eguzon-Chantôme (36), Tours (37), Honfleur (14), Orègue (64) and Nîmes (30), will train, this Friday evening at from 6.30 p.m., the word TELETHON, with their respective initials. To embody the first letter of the word Telethon, head to Thionville which will pay tribute to its industrial know-how by erecting a 10m high steel “T”, placed on the ground in front of the town hall. An XXL letter illuminated with hundreds of LEDs and in which more than 80 volunteers will take place will gradually take shape on the town hall square. In addition to this unprecedented challenge, the Thionville organizing committee (Entreprendre en Lorraine Nord, the City of Thionville and the AFM Téléthon) has concocted a rich and varied program for this weekend during which it will notably be a question of breaking records in swimming, golf, climbing, walking… Like the disabled / able-bodied swimming relays which will be run in the presence of Anita Fatis and Béatrice Hess, swimmer with 20 Paralympic titles. More than 240 athletes will take part in the various challenges. “Our goal is to reach € 60,000 in donations,” says Daniel Preslier, a volunteer at ELN. In nine years, the Thionville organizing committee has donated 390,000 € to the AFM.
