The mass waves of disgruntled residents date back to mid-September. No more mail, no more parcels, letters that arrive late or end up at the neighbor … There are many complaints from citizens who sometimes come to attack the counters, as happened recently in Guenange.
Certainly the cup is full in the north of the Moselle. Unfortunately, the outlook does not necessarily indicate the end of the tunnel. So what’s going on inside La Poste? Elements of response with the managerial position and that of the CGT FAPT Moselle union.
Explanations from the CGT FAPT Moselle
“On August 30 a reorganization took place within the Thionville (Thionville, Yutz, Audun-le-Tiche, Hayange) mail platform, a reorganization that led to the elimination of 7 rounds, presents Patrick Weiland, CGT Secretary General FAPT Moselle. Since then, thousands of letters have piled up and are not being distributed in time due to a lack of staff. Management has asked some postal couriers in Thionville to deliver the mail to Yutz. But as a result, there have recently been up to 14 rounds that haven’t been done at the Thionville mail platform out of the thirty that the center has. “And to clarify:” There is clearly a problem of staff shortages. Today the company struggles to hire, there are more than 30% of precarious workers, 50% on certain days. We are witnessing the exodus of postmen from the Moselle to the post offices of Luxembourg, with an initial salary of 2,400 euros gross. The CGT operator underlines this: “The management also speaks of a decline in postal activity, it is true, but parcel activity is on the rise. Not to mention the new services offered, and the flat rate times of the underrated services. We therefore ask for permanent hires with living wages to solve the problem, at the same time as the renegotiations at national level of standards and rates (calculation of the tour). “
Explanations from local management
What is the management’s response to this situation which is affecting hundreds of families in the North Moselle? “La Poste is adapting its organizations to changes in society, which are oriented towards more local services, more parcels and less mail,” he informs. Due to the continuous decline in delivery volumes (–23% in the Guénange sector since 2016), at the end of August La Poste set up a new organization in the Yutz-Guénange sector. This evolution required adaptation time for the post office workers at the Yutz post site as well as some adjustments. At the same time, La Poste experienced many absences of its workforce due to the health situation. He confirms his difficulties in recruiting: “The company is in daily contact with temporary employment agencies, organizations and associations, in a very tight labor market. Currently, 15 postmen with permanent contracts are to be employed in the Thionville basin. »The opportunity to send two messages:« Anyone interested can send their application to [email protected]. We also apologize for any inconvenience encountered and invite our customers to contact customer service on 36 31 if necessary. “
La Poste, a company with 100% public capital, operates, on behalf of the community, the universal postal service 6 days a week (one of the four public service missions for which it is responsible).
