The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, responded to what Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in Ukraine during his visit to Odessa and in his speech at the EPP conference.
In her post on Telegram, Zakharova, to comment on the words of the prime minister, invoked Resistance to the Nazis, the work of the composer Mikis Theodorakis and emphasized that “we have not terrorized Greece or anyone else”
Maria Zakharova’s post:
“Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said: “In this dark hour for Europe, we have demonstrated our determination to support Ukraine with a united front, which our enemies may not have expected. You will not deter us, we will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary”.
He also called Russia an enemy of Europe.
First, we did not and do not bully Greece or anyone else. You won’t find a single example.
Second, Europe was different. The Third Reich was also Europe. For such a Nazi Europe we will always be an enemy.
Third, in my Soviet/Russian school, in the usual music lesson for each of our students, I went through the works of Mikis Theodorakis. I knew both his music and his fate. He was also an enemy of Europe, Nazi Europe.
Don’t betray, Kyriakos, the memory of the Greek Resistance!”
What Kyriakos Mitsotakis said to the EPP:
“I was in Odessa yesterday with President Zelensky when a Russian ballistic missile hit the port during our visit to his facilities. And, I believe, we are all sending a message to the Kremlin: We are not going to be afraid. We will continue to support Ukraine and its brave citizens as long as necessary. And of course, we remain completely united in our determination to do it”, the prime minister had said, among other things, speaking at the EPP conference.
