Coronavirus infection became the main or co-cause of death of 1706 people in Moscow in July. At the same time, the number of deaths associated with COVID-19 is two times less than in June, and 68% less than in May, the Moscow Department of Health said.
In total, 10,773 people died in the capital in July, which is 716 more than in July 2019. According to the Department of Healthcare, the overall excess of mortality in relation to the average July indicators for the last three years amounted to 1,040 cases.
“COVID-19 as the main or co-cause of death was noted in 1706 cases, which justifies all excess deaths in July,” noted in the department.
At the same time, the infection became the main cause of death of 742 people.
“Among them are cases when, with a negative test (both during life and posthumously), according to the results of the pathological and anatomical examination and clinical signs, the cause of death was determined by the coronavirus (141 people),” the department explains.
At the same time, another 964 people in the capital died in July from other causes, but with a positive test result for coronavirus.
“At the same time, COVID-19 had a significant impact on the development of the underlying disease and its fatal complications in 466 cases (diseases of the circulatory system – 418, diseases of the respiratory system – 28, other diseases – 20),” the message says.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that in Moscow in mortality statistics from coronavirus took into account “not only those who had a positive test, but also those who had a clear clinical picture.”
At the end of May, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced that in Russia shared all causes of death, “Which are somehow related to the impact of COVID-19” on the groups.
