From the slaughter video
Unspeakable bloody moments documented by a terrifying video of a Russian soldier apparently holding a prisoner and slitting his neck with a knife.
Those scenes, which were later deleted by Twitter and other communication platforms, documented, two days ago, the cold-blooded slaughter of a Ukrainian prisoner.
In addition to the suspected execution, another clip that was circulated showed the mutilated bodies of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
open an investigation
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office announced today, Thursday, that it has begun reviewing the video clip that shows a Russian-speaking person in military uniform beheading a soldier who appears to be a Ukrainian prisoner.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office stated on its Telegram channel that the investigation authorities have begun examining the aforementioned content in order to ensure its authenticity.
He also added that this decision is a preliminary step that may first lead to the opening of a criminal investigation.
monsters
Yesterday, Wednesday, Ukraine compared Russia to ISIS, calling on the International Criminal Court to investigate the video, which appeared to show Russian soldiers filming themselves beheading a Ukrainian prisoner with a knife.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described Russians as “monsters”. In a video clip posted on Instagram and Twitter, he said, “How easily these people are killed. The whole world should watch this video of the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war. This video shows Russia for what it really is.”
Deputy Defense Secretary Hana Maliar asked people online not to mention the soldier’s name until law enforcement authorities have formally identified him. She urged people to stop sharing the video online.
While the Kremlin described the scene as horrific, it called for “verification of the authenticity” of the recording.
As for the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, it confirmed in a statement from Geneva that it was horrified by these horrific scenes.
It is noteworthy that since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on February 24, Kiev has repeatedly accused Russian forces of committing war crimes and kidnapping children, while Moscow denied this, stressing that it is a coordinated campaign to discredit it.
