Moscow is fueling tensions: Russian citizens are being urged not to go to Estonia

As the official Moscow Department of Customs and Taxation is trying to “impress” its citizens, it has announced a ban on importing several goods from Russia, “covering” with the sanctions imposed by the European Union. The ban, which will take effect on July 10, also applies to natural persons, the ministry notes.

The Russian Foreign Ministry points out that the list of prohibited goods includes some types of products, furniture and other goods. In addition, bags, shoes, electronics and other goods worth more than 750 euros, as well as cash banknotes, are also prohibited from being exported to Russia without strategic goods (televisions, drones).

“Smuggling” threatens both a fine and imprisonment – up to three years for a person and up to five years for a group of persons, “the ministry said in a statement quoting the practice of smuggling goods.

“The Estonian authorities also make no secret of the fact that the real purpose of the restrictions is to crack down on ordinary Russian citizens,” official Moscow said.
