MOSCOW FOR THE PARTICIPATION OF THE UNITED STATES IN THE TALKS ON DONBASS, ACCORDING TO LAVROV
–
MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia would welcome U.S. participation in diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.
The US Secretary of State is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kouleba on Wednesday, the State Department said on Tuesday.
He will then go to Berlin for a meeting with his German counterpart Annalena Bärbock then a meeting of the transatlantic “Quad”, which brings together the United States, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Talks in the “Normandy” format (Ukraine, Russia, France, Germany) aimed at resolving the conflict sparked in 2014 by an armed insurrection by pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine have been stalled since last November.
