Moscow Acknowledges Armenia’s Position as Not an Ally in Ukraine Conflict

Moscow takes note and takes into account Yerevan’s position that Armenia is not Russia’s ally in the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced today, June 2, to journalists by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“We take note of it, this is an important statement. We know that there are certain nuances in Armenia’s approaches to the conflict over Ukraine, we take them into account, we know them,” — said the representative of the Kremlin.

This is how he commented on the statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, made in an interview published on CNN last Thursday, that Yerevan is not an ally of Moscow in the conflict in Ukraine and that the current situation is alarming for the Armenian side. According to the Armenian leader, “the truth is that the more complicated the situation, the more opportunities become to maneuver.”

At the same time, the press secretary of the head of the Russian state pointed out that “of course, we continue to develop our conceptual allied relations with Armenia.”

The field of maneuver for Armenia in the context of the ongoing geopolitical crisis around Ukraine is gradually narrowing. This, as reported EADailysaid Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking May 31 at the annual Armenian Democracy Forum in Yerevan.
