Elisa Mörzinger made her first podium in her fifth race in the Ski World Cup. The 22-year-old from Upper Austria surprised on Sunday in Sestriere with second place in the first parallel giant slalom for women. The victory went to an outsider with Clara Direz from France. Third place went to Italian Marta Bassino.

The favorites around Mikaela Shiffrin, Petra Vlhova, Wendy Holdener and three of the four Austrian women in the main competition were eliminated early in Italy. For Katharina Liensberger, Katharina Truppe and Katharina Huber, the final stage was already in the first round.
