Mortuary full: New York City erects tents for corona deaths – News abroad

It is sad but necessary construction in front of a New York hospital.

In front of the Bellevue Hospital in east Manhattan, workers in military clothing set up several tents on Tuesday. The corpses of corona dead are to be laid out there. The reason: the city’s morgues are full, with the tents the capacity is to be increased from 800 to 900 to around 3,500.

According to the “New York Post”, additional refrigerated trailers are also being delivered. Similar facilities are also planned in front of other hospitals.

The tents are designed to help cope with the rise in deaths. Mayor Bill de Blasio (58) recently signed a declaration of emergency for the metropolis. New York currently has 17,856 corona cases, including 192 fatalities.

After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, there was a temporary morgue on the grounds of Bellevue Hospital.
