En principle, general elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo are to take place on 20 December. Everyone is holding on to it. President Tshisekedi intends to be reappointed for a new five-year term, which should dispel doubts about the legitimacy of the first term, obtained through a political arrangement with outgoing President Joseph Kabila. Congolese citizens, too, are attached to this election, whether they are nationals of Kasai, wishing to establish their pre-eminence in power, or voters from other provinces and opposition parties. However, several mortgages weigh on the holding of the ballot.
