Almost 30% of Extremadurans say they have difficulties in meeting mortgage or rental expenses, according to the report by Grupo Mutua Propietarios ‘Hogares vis-a-vis the rise in housing’. Laura López Demarbre, Deputy Director General of the Group, confirms that the increase in the Euribor and the ‘hardening’ of mortgages have caused Extremadurans to choose to rent and, consequently, that the rental price increases by 8%.
The report reveals the concern of Extremadurans since 67% believe that prices related to rent or mortgage will continue to rise. López Demarbre points out that “one of the profiles that shows the most difficulties are people on a rental basis.” However, 44% of Extremadurans who still have an outstanding mortgage believe that during 2023 their mortgage will increase considerably.
