Over the past day, May 16, Ukraine was in first place in mortality from coronavirus infection in Europe. 133 people have died in the country.
Following in the statistics were Italy – 93, France – 81, Germany – 62, Hungary – 61 and Poland 55. In Russia, 391 infected died. This is evidenced by the data of the online counter Worldometers.
As of the morning of May 17, in terms of the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic, Ukraine was in eighth place among European countries – 48,075 cases. Topped the rating Great Britain – 127 679, Italy – 124 156 and France – 107 616.
In total, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe, more than 1 million people have died, and 3.3 million deaths have been recorded in the world. The disease claimed the most lives in the United States – 600 thousand.
