From new mechanics and characters to the premise of its new, rebooted universe, Mortal Kombat 1 makes a bigger impression every time it’s shown off – but there’s certainly always room for improvement. For example, those who managed to get their hands on early builds of the game – like in the June online stress test – reported slower movement speeds in the game and issues with jerking. However, it seems that NetherRealm Studios has already made improvements in this direction.
Many who have recently played Mortal Kombat 1 on EVO, such as the popular eSports player SonicFox, have stated that the movement in the game has improved, the dashes are faster, and the dash blocks that fans of the series remember from Mortal Kombat 2011 are back.
These changes were confirmed by NetherRealm Studios boss and Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, who wrote in his post on Twitter:We continue to encourage feedback from those who get a chance to play these early builds. Let’s make this game the best together!»
Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to release on September 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Closed beta testing will run from 18 to 21 August.
