Lhe Kingdom’s participation in the 4th conference of official drug control laboratories is part of the strengthening of the safety of drugs and health products, the exchange of experiences and the consolidation of Morocco’s place in this domain.
Organized during the week of May 16 to 21 by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines, the meeting allowed Morocco to highlight its strategy to fight against illegal, falsified or expired medicines. This is how the kingdom, represented by the director of medicine Bouchra Meddah, recalled the importance of the country which was the only African and Arab country to participate in this international conference.
This participation was marked by the highlighting of the efforts made by the services of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection to fight against the production, distribution and proliferation of falsified and illegal medicines, in particular biological medicines and products health products, such as cosmetics and food supplements.
The meeting was also an opportunity to present the latest techniques to analyze and detect these falsified health products, including cannabis and traditional Chinese medicines, the official said.
The participants in this conference discussed the laws and conventions governing the phenomenon, including the convention established by the Council of Europe and adopted by Morocco on September 15, 2016, which is the first international convention prohibiting the production and marketing of medicinal products. and falsified health products. Meddah noted that the proliferation of falsified and illegally marketed medicines represents a major danger for the citizen and public health.
