The Twing Raid is an adventurous rally event that takes place in the magical landscapes of Morocco, combining elements of a raid and a rallye. Participants drive Renault Twingo 1 models, iconic cars from the 1990s, across challenging terrains including the Atlas Mountains and the sahara desert. The event aims to provide an exceptional and emotionally rich experience for the participants while also being accessible and fun.
The Twing raid is not just about the adventure; it also has a solidarity aspect. The event involves crossing the Sahara with a focus on delivering foodstuffs and school supplies to the children of the desert. This adds a meaningful dimension to the adventure, making it an unforgettable experience for the participants.
The second edition of the Twing Raid is scheduled to take place from February 25 to march 6, 2025. this event brings together around 250 crews, each equipped with a Renault Twingo of the first generation. Participants like Raphaël and Nicolas prepare their vehicles meticulously, sometimes even buying a second Twingo to gather necessary parts and resell the ones they don’t need.
The duo, trained in boilermaking, has the skills to work on the sheet metal but finds the mechanical aspects of preparing the vehicle challenging. They spend hours planning and adjusting their vehicle to meet the precise specifications provided by the institution, frequently enough working late into the night to ensure everything is perfect.

An Epic Adventure: the Twingo Raid
Table of Contents
In a world where adventure often takes a backseat to routine, two friends, Raphaël and Nicolas, are gearing up for an remarkable journey. Their goal? To participate in the Le twing raid,an event that promises an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
A Vehicle Ready for the Challenge
The vehicle they will be using is no ordinary car. With 290,000 km on the clock, it has seen its fair share of roads. But it’s not just the mileage that sets it apart. This trusty steed had to be adapted and given a new look to meet the demands of the raid. Thanks to the help of a friend, Julien Lefevre, who lent them his farm, they were able to paint the bumpers even in the rain.
Equipped with 20 liters of fuel and the same amount of water, two extinguishers, personal affairs, a toolkit, and spare parts, the car is ready to tackle any challenge that comes its way. The duo also plans to carry ten kilos of non-perishable food and hygiene products, which will be donated to Restos du Coeur before their departure from Saint-Sébastien, Spain. Additionally, they will distribute five kilos of school supplies to schoolchildren in Morocco.
Creating an Association and Finding sponsors
Preparing for such an adventure required more than just packing. Raphaël and Nicolas had to create their first association, Asso Roc 127, a nod to their race number and their professional baccalaureate in “realization of cauldroned works.” This association allowed them to collect donations and approach companies and businesses to find sponsors for their budget of around €8,000.
“We were relentless, we have deposited about fifty files and a dozen agreed to support us in a very generous way,” they said, recalling the stress they experienced when they realized that Nicolas’ passport woudl no longer be valid at the time of the test. fortunately, Nicolas received his new passport just in time for the registration deadline.
The Adventure Begins
Le twing raid is an event that takes place without a competitive spirit. Participants are free to follow the route independently, observing the hours but not racing against each other. Two steps will be navigated using a simple map and a compass, a GPS without GPS approach. Aside from the last two nights at the hotel, the participants plan to bivouac and expect to face fresh nights in the desert.
“We want to experience the adventure from A to Z,” they declared, eager to “get the sun.”
