The Netherlands will probably receive more than a billion euros less in European corona support than was previously expected. This is what Minister Sigrid Kaag of Finance writes in a letter to the House of Representatives, ANP news agency reports. The Netherlands now expects to receive 4.7 billion euros, instead of the 6 billion euros that the cabinet previously assumed.
The fact that the amount is lower is because the Dutch economy was hit less hard by the corona crisis than initially thought: the economy did not shrink by 5.3 percent, but by 3.8 percent. The amount of the final amount that the Netherlands will receive partly depends on the shrinkage figures.
How much the Netherlands will ultimately receive has not yet been definitively determined. The amount the Netherlands can count on will only be announced at the end of June.
