British importers actively searched for new alternative sellers, and Moroccan exporters were successful in filling that niche. By the way, the UK was the world’s fifth largest importer of fresh raspberries in 2022.
Morocco has been increasing both its export volumes to the United Kingdom and its share in the British market. Morocco accounted for just 1.5% of total UK fresh raspberry imports three years ago. In the 2022/23 campaign, this North African country managed to increase its quota to 55%.
Beats Spain
As a result, Morocco has become the leading exporter of fresh raspberries to the UK and has surpassed Spain., the previous leader. In addition, Spain has only reduced its exports to the United Kingdom, and its volumes have fallen by 40% in the last five seasons.

Morocco exports fresh raspberries mainly to European countries, with the UK showing the fastest growth rates. The UK was also the key importer of fresh raspberries from Morocco in the 2022/23 campaign with a 25% share of total Moroccan exports.
