Jakarta, CNNI Indonesia —
Midfielder Morocco Sofiane Boufal apologizes for forgetting to mention Africa in her victory celebration speech after her team qualified for the quarter-finals World Cup 2022.
Following Morocco’s successful elimination of Spain on penalties, Boufal made a statement in front of the media. In the interview, Boufal dedicated the victory to Arab and Muslim countries.
Although Morocco’s success in qualifying for the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup is also a great victory for the entire African continent. Many Africans are happy to see Morocco can continue to advance in the 2022 World Cup.
Morocco followed in the footsteps of Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002) and Ghana (2010) as teams that managed to reach the quarter-finals. Morocco now has the opportunity to become the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
Realizing this mistake, Boufal also apologized to all Africans.
“I apologize for forgetting to mention the African continent in my statement after the match.”
“Thank you for your support. I also dedicate this victory to you. We are proud to represent all our brothers and sisters on this continent,” said Boufal.
