The Moroccan national team goalkeeper accused a DR Congo player of asking to injure an opponent.
A few days after the end of CAN2023, the first controversies emerged. Yassine Bono, Morocco’s goalkeeper, accused former Porto player Chancel Mbemba of inappropriate conduct towards his opponent, in the group stage game of the African Cup of Nations.
“En-Nesyri told me that Mbemba insulted me throughout the game. Afterwards, he told his teammates to go towards Ounahi and hurt him. The atmosphere was tense at the end of the match”, said the goalkeeper of the Al Hilal.
This situation takes on a different shape if we consider that Mbemba and Ounahi are teammates at Marseille. After this duel, the two teams advanced to the knockouts, with the Moroccans reaching the round of 16, while the Congolese reached the semi-finals, being eliminated by the champion Ivory Coast.
