Former head of Trump’s vaccination campaign, Moncef Slaoui, fired from drug company for sexual harassment
Moncef Slaoui, the man who led the vaccination campaign in the United States during the term of President Donald Trump, has been fired from the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline after a complaint of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior. Slaoui was born in Morocco, but studied, worked and lived in our country for more than 30 years.
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has fired Moncef Slaoui with immediate effect from his position as Chairman of Galvani Bioelectronics, a biotechnology company in which the British pharmaceutical company GSK is the majority shareholder. An internal investigation is ongoing after an employee reported sexual misconduct several years ago.
In a statement, GSK writes that immediately after the letter it engaged a law firm, which was able to confirm the complaint after an investigation. The company calls Slaoui’s behavior “completely unacceptable” and says he abused his position of power.
Moncef Slaoui became known internationally when the President of the United States, Donald Trump, appointed him a scientist to lead “Operation Speed Warp.” The campaign aimed to produce, select, and distribute COVID-19 vaccines in the United States last year. In January, Slaoui resigned from that position.

Slaoui, 61, was born in Agadir (Morocco). He eventually came to Belgium and studied at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he received a doctorate in immunology and molecular biology. He later studied at the prestigious American University of Harvard, but returned to Belgium in 1985, where he taught at the ULB and at the University of Mons.
Prior to becoming President of Galvani Bioelectronics, Slaoui worked for GSK for nearly 30 years in several key positions.
