Moroccan Football Federation Cancels Olympic Team’s Match Against Brazil Due to Earthquake Disaster

The Moroccan Federation announces the cancellation of the Olympic team’s match against Brazil due to the earthquake disaster

The Moroccan Football Federation announced, on Sunday evening, the cancellation of the friendly match that was scheduled for Monday evening, between the Moroccan under-23 national team and its Brazilian counterpart, in the city of Fez, in preparation for the upcoming official matches.

The Moroccan Football Federation said in a statement published on its official website: “The Moroccan Football Federation announces the cancellation of the friendly match that was scheduled to bring together on Monday, September 11, 2023, between the Moroccan Olympic team and its Brazilian counterpart at the Sports Complex in Fez.”

The statement added: “The meeting was postponed after the earthquake that struck some areas in the Kingdom of Morocco, and the state of mourning that the country is experiencing.”

The statement concluded: “The Moroccan football family renews its deep condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to all those injured.”

It is worth noting that the Moroccan Olympic team defeated Brazil last Thursday with a goal to no return, in a friendly match in the city of Fez, and a second friendly match was scheduled to be held between them, before it was canceled due to the earthquake.
