Moroccan-American Marwa Lahlou elected “Miss Arab USA” for the year 2022

Moroccan-American Marwa Lahlou recently won the title of “Miss Arab USA” for the year 2022, at an event held in Arizona. The Miss Arab organization called Lahlou a “very intelligent woman”, in a press release published on Monday and picked up by The New Arab.

The same source recalled that the new “Miss Arab USA 2022” is fluent in Arabic, English, French and Spanish and holds an MBA in International Business Management and Marketing with great honors from the University of New Haven. Lahlou’s family moved to the town of Alexandria, Va., after suffering severe bullying in high school, according to the press release. “There, Marwa met many Arabs, which introduced her to the sense of group solidarity and hospitality inherent in Arab culture. Since then, she has established herself as an ambassador of her heritage and has worked hard all her life to represent the beauty and generosity of her Arab roots.

In a video of Lahlou’s coronation, it was announced that the winner would “receive a cash prize of $10,000.” The first runner-up to Miss Arab USA 2022 was American-Palestinian Joanna Rashid, ahead of American-Lebanese Maria Bassil and Jennifer Kassir.
