Morning Star Flag Flying in Bintuni Papua During OPM Anniversary

Flag Morning Star flying at one of the BTS in SP 4 Manimeri District, Teluk Bintuni Regency, Papua, Wednesday (1/12). It is known, today is believed by some to be the Independence Day of the Papuan Nation.

It is not known who is responsible for raising the flag.

At around 10.00 WIT, the security forces secured the location of the raising and attempted to lower the flag.

Separately, the Regent of Bintuni, Petrus Kasihiw, confirmed that there was information on flag raising in the district.

He said an attempt to raise the Morning Star flag could happen anywhere today. But he made sure the raising did not affect the disruption of vital objects.

“The point is that the situation remains under control. Not all areas can be monitored by security forces. What is clear is that vital objects are in a safe condition. The raising of the flag is normal, rising and falling is also normal,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the XVIII Kasuari Regional Military Command, Maj. Gen. I Nyoman Cantiasa, admitted that he did not know or received a report regarding the Morning Star flag at one of the BTS in SP4 Manimeri District, Teluk Bintuni Regency.

“I haven’t been able to get a report on that,” he said.

CNNIndonesia.com has contacted the Bintuni Bay Police Chief, AKBP Junov Siregar to confirm, but has not responded.
