Spotify records on day 1

Whether fans of classical live music, vinyl or CDs like it – today’s music is mostly played on playlists, mobile phones and basically streaming platforms. So it’s not surprising that records were broken directly with “One Thing at a Time”. In addition to the almost 20,000 fans live on site, more than a million people followed the event via live stream, and there were also two Spotify records: On the one hand, the new Wallen album became the “most-streamed country album in a single day by a male”. – say the most streamed country album by a male artist in one day. On the other hand, the 29-year-old can be happy to have delivered the “largest streaming debut of any genre 2023”, i.e. the best streaming start in 2023 across all genres. In March of this year, of course, this is a title that can probably still be taken away from him.

Still can Morgan Wallen that night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The American industry service describes the mood before the actual concert as “full of anticipation, until Wallen made his way to a small, round stage in the middle of the hall.” Other descriptions include descriptions such as “The crowd went crazy” or “deafening”. From his new 36 songs, Wallen presented a selection of 15 songs that evening, with which he wanted to present the themes of heartbreak or romance. The fans could sing along to the songs that had only been released a few hours ago. He began with the album opener, “Born With a Beer in My Hand,” and followed it up with “One Thing at a Time.” The song “Keith Whitley” seemed to resonate with the fans in particular. Morgan Wallen said Keith Whitley was one of his favorite artists. “I always felt like he died too young and had a lot more magic in him…this is one of my favorite songs on the record.” Wallen later dedicated the song “Dying Man” to his two-year-old son. “In ‘Dying Man’ I sing for a woman. In real life, this song is dedicated to my son. He changed everything for me and is a real blessing. He’s here tonight, I give him this song.”

With the songs “Thinkin’ Bout Me”, “Sunrise”, and “180 Lifestyle” Wallen presented the hip-hop influence on his new record, with “Last Night” the crowd roared again. The title has been circulating for the past few weeks on the video platform TikTok and thus attracted a lot of attention. He insisted on playing “Tennessee Fan”, which some fans had already expected. He also showed “Thought You Should Know”, “Sand In My Boots”, “Chasin’ You”, “More Than My Hometown” and many other songs from the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, which were enthusiastically received by the audience.
