Country music star accepts responsibility for his behavior

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Country music star Morgan Wallen, known for hits like “One Thing at a Time,” has responded publicly to his recent arrest in Nashville. Wallen faces three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct for throwing a chair off the rooftop of a six-story bar. He admitted to his actions and expressed his remorse in a social media post on Friday night.

Acceptance of Responsibility

Wallen, who is currently on a stadium tour, used his social media platform to address the incident and take responsibility for his behavior. He confirmed that he has reached out to Nashville law enforcement and apologized to his family and the management of Chief’s bar where the incident took place.

“I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” wrote Wallen on his social media account.

Legal Implications

Court records show that Wallen is scheduled for a court hearing on May 3. He faces three felony counts of reckless endangerment for throwing a chair that landed approximately 3 feet away from officers. Witnesses reported that Wallen picked up the chair, threw it over the roof, and laughed about it. He was subsequently arrested and later released.

Impact on Music Career

Morgan Wallen, one of the biggest names in contemporary country music, has had a successful career with his album “One Thing at a Time” reaching the top of the Billboard 200 chart for 16 weeks in 2023. Despite the recent incident, Wallen stated that there will be no change to his tour schedule, including a concert set to take place at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi on Saturday.

Past Controversies

This incident is not the first time Wallen has faced public scrutiny. In 2021, he was suspended indefinitely by his record label after a video featuring him shouting a racial slur surfaced. In 2020, Wallen was also arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct at a bar owned by Kid Rock in downtown Nashville.
