Morfov and Budinov – who said what before the scandalous recording and after (Overview)

  • I didn’t promise that I would sprinkle ashes on my head to get me back in “Hush”, claims the actor
  • According to Valery Yordanov, Budinov was late and missed performances due to political commitments

Twhat is on the video is more or less the truth. I just didn’t expect such epithets. This looks like those – socialist – times to me, because I’m such a set that I’ve only heard of.

This is how the actor Evgeni Budinov commented on the video, in which the director Alexander Morfov called him “Gerbadji garbage”.

The video is from the first rehearsal at the end of August of the performance “Hushov” directed by Alexander Morfov, which returned to the stage of the National Theater at the invitation of director Vasil Vasilev. It premiered on September 9, 10 and 11.

The recording was made 5 months ago by the photographer Stefan N. Shterev, who photographed everything for a documentary about the return of “Hushov”. All materials have been requested from him, the recording is being used for political purposes, says actor from the troupe Valery Yordanov.

The video was leaked to the public domain two days ago. It was first shared on Facebook by Toma Bykov, who was Budinov’s colleague in the 44th National Assembly as part of the GERB parliamentary group.

We have another absence. A piece of trash we threw out of the show, Alexander Morfov says in the video to actors in the National Theater. I’m sorry, but I have never hidden my antipathy towards Bankya, Borisov and co. A person with these understandings and this position in life cannot be part of our performance the director explains his decision to remove Budinov from “Hushov”.

The reason for this decision, according to “huscha” Valeri Yordanov, is a lack of discipline. First, Mr. Evgeni Budinov, it doesn’t matter which party he is from, he didn’t come to several shows because they have party meetings. And we played without him and none of the spectators noticed that he was gone. Yordanov said that they have an “actor’s law”, which states that all actors participating in the performance must be in the theater one hour before the performance. But several times it happened that Evgeni Budinov was late and exactly half an hour before a performance he warned his colleagues that he would not be able to play because he had political commitments.

In these situations, the rest of the “hushes” distributed Budinov’s lines among themselves.

“Alexander Morfov as a director has the right to remove someone for lack of discipline”, says Yordanov.

Evgeni Budinov learned about Morfov’s decision from his colleagues after more than 15 years of participating in “Hushov”. His role was taken by Leart Dokle.

After learning, the actor called Morfov to ask him if he was really removed from “Hushov”, and the director replied: “Yes, because you are from GERB”. If I refuse to publicly announce everywhere that I’m giving it up, I was forced, everyone makes mistakes, is there any chance I’ll ever work with you because you’re my favorite director? – this is how Morfov recreates his conversation with Budinov in the video.

However, according to the actor, not everything that Morfov says is true. Like he didn’t beg him to come back.

“There are some untruths in this – I did not pray to him and I did not tell him that I would sprinkle my head with ashes and publicly renounce the GERB party to bring me back to the show.” commented Budinov to “24 Chasa”.

The recording that leaked into the public domain has been tampered with. And the reason is political PR and lynching. This is what Valery Yordanov claims, adding that he has all the options. “The final part of Sasho’s story has been cut,” says the actor. In this part of the “Hushes” rehearsal, Morfov said that he felt sorry and called Budinov back ten minutes after their first conversation. He told him that maybe he would bring him back to the show. Then the actor replied that he was a candidate deputy of GERB. However, Morfov gave him an ultimatum to choose: “either “Hashes” or in the lists”.

“I choose Boyko Borisov”, answered Evgeni Budinov.

However, according to Valery Yordanov, Morfov said on the phone: Getza, come on, bro, I’ll get you in. We’ve been together for so many years, you’ve been playing for so many years. But Budinov warned him: But if they call me back saying they need me as an MP or for the elections, I won’t be able to refuse. Understand me, you are a free man, you are a great creator. I’m not free, I’m financially dependent Valeri Yordanov recreates the conversation.

According to Budinov, Morfov’s attitude worsened when he became a GERB deputy. “And some of the colleagues at “Hushov” are fed up with his attitude and what he has become.” says the actor. Colleagues from “Hushov” called him to support him, but according to Budinov, they don’t want to say it publicly because “maybe they are afraid”. “This is our guild. They secretly support me like real hush,” explains the actor.

The actors can also be heard laughing on the recording as Morphov recreates the phone conversation with the actor. Director Vasil Vassilev stands two meters behind Alexander Morfov, smiling and enthusiastically applauding him. Sasho was his main creative point in his candidacy campaign, says Valery Yordanov.

Vassilev, however, refused to comment on “24 Chasa” because he has been on sick leave since last week.

Because of Morfov’s insulting qualifications to Budinov, the chairman of the PG of GERB Desislava Atanasova will file a complaint with the Commission for Protection against Discrimination. However, Budinov has not decided whether he will join the complaint, because he wants to pass the premiere of his directed play “Dinner for Fools” in Haskovo on February 8.

“Back then I could have caused a scandal and exploded when he removed me, but that was never my goal. What got me fired up is that he is telling lies in this post and his attitude of calling me grassroots trash and whatnot, says Budinov.
