Östers IF and Degerfors are tipped to finish first and second in the super league. Already in round one, the teams met.
Degerfors started briskly and had two shots on target in the first five minutes. The guests in Växjö also took the lead after 27 minutes of play. Karim Mammar Chaouche hit a cross and it was spliced on by Gustav Lindgren to Pashang Abdulla. Abdulla was clinical and the forward, who joined Degerfors last summer, scored his first competitive goal for the red and whites.
– It was a long time coming, but now it’s done. Now I’m home and now we’re driving from here, Abdulla told Discovery+ during the break.
The score was 1-0 at halftime.
– We can do better. We are sloppy too much and I almost gave them a goal. There have been some mistakes and we have to correct that, Östers Manasse Kusu said in Discovery+ and continued:
– I’m not going to blame the base. I need to be better prepared.
A quarter of an hour into the second act, Gustav Lindgren burned a free position. Shortly afterwards, Öster received a penalty after Elyas Bouzaiene brought down Adam Bergmark Wiberg in a cross-post situation. Bergmark Wiberg, who is seen by many as the best player in the super league, took the penalty kick himself and it was saved by Wille Jakobsson.
Degerfors went for a 1-0 victory, but in the final stages of the match, former Degerfors player Albin Mörfelt stayed ahead and scored 1-1. He celebrated wildly against his former club and it was the last goal of the match.
– It’s fun to get a point anyway. Nice to score against Degerfors. Good evening, good premiere round, laughs Mörfelt in Discovery+.
Shortly after the 1-1 goal, nasty scenes unfolded, where Degerfors’ Adi Fisic and Östers’ Mattis Adolfsson nodded together. They both went to the ground and lay down, but eventually got up again by their own machine. Degerfors chose to replace Fisic shortly after the impact and Elias Pihlström replaced him. Then there was a big mess.
Fisic was determined to play on and wanted to step onto the pitch. Pihström remained at the side window. The referees conferred with each other and came to the conclusion that Fisic was not allowed to continue playing, whereupon Lundin became annoyed because Degerfors had completed his substitution.
In the end, Lundin ended up in a heated discussion with head referee Fredrik Oppong about the change.
– We made a change, said Lundin.
– That’s enough now! shouted Oppong.
– Can’t we change? Lundin said confused.
After many trips, the change was made.
In the next round, Öster faces Varbergs Bois at the same time as Degerfors collides with Gif Sundsvall.
