Moreno invites major film producers in the United States to “choose Andalusia” for their shoots

SEVILLA, 11 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, held a meeting this Wednesday at the Palacio de San Telmo with North American audiovisual producers, among whom were “big names” in the industry on a global scale, within the initiative ‘Shooting in Spain. Focus on USA ‘, of the Spain Film Commission, and which he has invited to “choose Andalusia” for their shoots.

In this sense, he has described this meeting as an opportunity for the autonomous community, “which in itself represents a huge, attractive and unique film set”, according to the Board in a statement.

In the same way, he has highlighted “the variety” of locations in Andalusia, “the incentives” to shoot in the autonomous community, “security in all aspects”, a network of “first level” infrastructures, “quality” services and its own “highly qualified, trained and enthusiastic” audiovisual industry. A sector that, in his opinion, “provides unique opportunities to project the image of the community throughout the world.”

During his speech, he declared that the Andalusian audiovisual sector is giving “good news”. The Board has highlighted that the data from the Andalusian Filming Report for 2021 certify that this industry “is in figures similar to those recorded before the pandemic.” So much so that the autonomous community “is once again the one with the largest number of filmings in Spain”, apart from the traditional center of Spanish audiovisual activity.

The Administration has specified that in 2021 there were a total of 1,329 filmings that had an economic impact, both direct and indirect, of 118 million euros and created some 19,000 jobs.

“This land has everything to convince them that it is very worth filming, investing and betting on Andalusia”, said Moreno, who recalled that the autonomous community has been the set for titles such as ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, ‘Doctor Zhivago’ , ‘The Empire of the Sun’, ‘Star Wars’, ‘Game of Thrones’ and where scenes from the ‘Indiana Jones’ or ‘James Bond’ sagas have been filmed.

“We have capacity, talent and enthusiasm. Trust Andalusia, you won’t regret it”, he indicated, while thanking this group of representatives of the North American audiovisual industry for stopping by.

Also present at the meeting were the Minister of Culture and Historical Heritage, Patricia del Pozo, the president of the Spain Film Commission and the Andalusia Film Commission, Carlos Rosado, and representatives of ICEX, among other authorities.
