Mexico City. The Morena National Council issued this Sunday the formal call for its VII Extraordinary National Congress, which will be held on September 22 and in which the party’s presidency and general secretariat will be renewed, as well as the secretariats of the Morena leadership that are vacant.
It is also planned to update its statutes and extend the term of office of the members of Congress and the National Council headed by Alfonso Durazo until October 1, 2027, instead of ending in 2025, with the aim of harmonizing their period with that of the next national party leadership.
Following the session held this afternoon by the National Council of the cherry-colored party, which was done virtually, its members approved calling the National Congress to be held in two weeks, at the World Trade Center in Mexico City at 9 in the morning.
The call establishes that the party’s National Institute for Political Training (INFP) will be in charge of preparing the proposal to reform Morena’s basic documents, for which it will have just over a week.
To do this, thematic tables will be organized and the opinions of the militants will be collected. It is explained that the members of this political force will be able to send to the email [email protected] their initiatives.
For those relating to the updating of principles, the deadline will close on September 13 and the working table will be held the following day. In the case of those relating to the Struggle Program, they will be received by September 16 at the latest, and for those relating to statutory adjustments, the deadline will be September 17, to give rise to their respective working table the following day.
The National Council and the INFP will jointly integrate the final proposals on the 19th and 20th of this month, which “should contemplate the expansion of the National Council to a maximum of 395 members,” the document specifies.
The session of the VII Extraordinary National Congress of Morena is expected to conclude with the swearing-in of the new leadership.
