The president of the Board of Directors of the Congress of the State of Querétaro, Andrea Tovar Saavedrareported that it will present an appeal for the state government Secretariats to include, in their 2025 budget, resources to acquire a state-of-the-art linear accelerator for cancer treatment.
“We are going to present an agreement initiative by which we respectfully urge the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health of the Executive Branch of the State of Querétaro for the inclusion and labeling of resources destined for the acquisition of a state-of-the-art linear accelerator in the Expenditure Budget for fiscal year 2025”he detailed in a press conference.
For his part, Eric Silva Hernández, local deputy for Morena, explained that The equipment being sought can be used to treat different types of cancer, it would be less invasive than radiotherapy for the bodyin addition to reducing treatment time for patients.
“It will allow us to reduce treatment times for patients who have radiotherapy by practically 90 percent, since with 10 percent of the exposure to this treatment the same result is achieved that would normally require practically 10 sessions, it would be reduced to one”, projection.
Besides, The local deputy stated that the device has an approximate cost of between 100 and 150 million pesos; He stressed that everything will depend on the tenders and finding the right supplier.
He detailed that In Querétaro, cases of breast cancer have increased since 2023. “There are 118 new cases with an average of 400 breast cancer patients currently undergoing treatment,” he explained.
Finally, the local deputy assured that they will seek to maintain a dialogue with the secretariats so that they include the resources for the device in their budgets.
“Evidently these are proposals that we make with the intention of being able to generate a channel of dialogue with them, in a sense of not just putting the document in and leaving it there,” he stated.
