More women in politics – free cinema series starts in the Wartburg district – Rhön Canal

More women in politics in the Wartburg district! – That is the goal of the community action program.

Why is the proportion of women in local political offices nationwide so low? What keeps women from taking on a municipal office and having a say in the fortunes of their community?

Three films on these topics will be shown in the period from August to November in the Pab cinema center in Bad Salzungen and in the Capitol film theater in Eisenach. Afterwards there is an opportunity to talk to each other.

DIE UNBEGSAMEN tells the story of the women in the Bonn Republic, who literally had to fight for their participation in the democratic decision-making processes against men obsessed with success and drunk on office like real pioneers.

Fearless, ambitious and with infinite patience, they pursued their path and defied prejudice and sexual discrimination. More under: www.dieunbeugsamen-film.de.

WHO OWNS MY VILLAGE? A personal film about the essence of democracy. Between white spa architecture and the gentle sound of the sea, director Christoph Eder uses his hometown Ostseebad as an example to show that nowhere is political participation as direct as in local politics.

THE PERFECT CANDIDATE: Maryam is a doctor in a small town in Saudi Arabia. Despite her excellent skills, she has to fight for the respect of the staff and patients every day. The condition of the road in front of the clinic makes Maryam angry.

Because the city doesn’t pave the driveway, patients regularly get stuck in the mud. Maryam wants a change and applies for a better job in Dubai. But because of a formality and because she has no male companion, she is not allowed to travel.

Maryam seeks help from a distant cousin. But as luck would have it, as a civil servant he only receives candidates for the scheduled elections to the city council. More on this below www.die-perfekte-kandidatin.de.
