Clothing banks have seen a peak in the number of customers in the past month, according to a tour of Heart of the Netherlands† The main causes for the increase are the energy crisis, Ukrainian customers and more expensive food, according to the clothing banks.
In the province of Groningen, the number of customers has increased by 10 percent. This does not only concern people who have found themselves in financial difficulties due to the higher prices, but also Ukrainian and Afghan refugees. They also see it getting busier in Utrecht, Rotterdam, Hoogeveen and Enschede.
Utrecht can hardly handle the crowds anymore. “We can no longer help everyone”, Louisa Zwarts tells Heart of the Netherlands.
