More than the problems related to recharging to be solved and electrified cars have every chance of seducing the French

Gone are the days when many obstacles stood in the way of electrified vehicles to prevent them from gaining esteem with the French. More than one last challenge to take up and all the chances will come to align in their favor if one believes the results of the recent studies carried out by Ipsos and Avere-France.

For Avere-France, it is no longer a question of limiting oneself to playing the auto insurance comparator to demonstrate the advantage that motorists could have by choosing electrified cars. As a national association for the development of electric mobility, the organization is also committed to measuring the evolution of these models on the French automotive market.

With this in mind, two surveys conducted among owners of plug-in hybrids and 100% electric have found that the vast majority of users are satisfied with their choice. A nice assessment that could improve further if the problems related to recharging were to disappear.

More than a major challenge to take up

By interviewing owners of electrified vehicles across the country, Ipsos and Avere-France discovered that the obstacles preventing the development of these models have gradually faded. At least, for the majority, since the latest studies have shown that there is still a challenge to be met and voila, the difficulties associated with recharging.

Concretely, this problem mainly concerns motorists using public facilities. That is, 30% of survey respondents given that 70% remaining have the possibility of recharging at home. Which also amounts to saying that the malaise concerns public charging stations according to a note from Avere-France specifying that:

68% of those surveyed are now dissatisfied with on-street charging stations.

A major concern that would not be resolved soon given that:

  • The government has set itself the objective of deploying 10,000 charging points throughout the country by 2021;
  • 100 million euros have been dedicated to the development of fast charging stations on motorways and on the national road network;
  • The modernization of post-2017 and non-interoperable facilities is underway, thanks to the Advenir program.

Either way, so many resolutions that should overcome the main factors at the source of the discontent of users. To know :

  • The number of repeated breakdowns for 75% of respondents;
  • The suction cup cars that come to park without recharging for 38%.

The results are rather encouraging

Despite the aforementioned negative point, the results of the surveys carried out by Ipsos and Avere-France are rather encouraging given that 7 out of 10 respondents said they were more than satisfied with their electric or hybrid vehicle and that 96% of those polled said they did not regret their penchant for these models. This, mainly from the perspective where the electrified car is used:

  • As the main means of transport for 71% of respondents;
  • To travel between 31 and 100 km / day for 47%;
  • To drive as much as with a thermal vehicle for 67%;
  • For daily (86%) or occasional (83%) journeys;
  • To go on weekends or on vacation for 48%.

ImportantRegarding this last point, it would thus be useful to specify that sufficient autonomy is the only condition encouraging motorists to choose their electric car.

And since it is a question of choice, it should also be noted that by betting on these models the French have enough to motivate themselves with:

  • Protection of the environment for 46% of respondents;
  • The desire to save 25%;
  • Eco-driving for 15%.
