As of noon on January 16, all roads in the above-mentioned areas have been cleared, and 1,558 tourists stranded due to avalanches have successfully left the scenic area.

Generally speaking, the main cause of avalanches is too thick snow on the slopes. After the snow is exposed to sunlight, the surface snow melts, and the snow water seeps between the snow and the hillside, thereby reducing the friction between the snow and the ground; at the same time, the snow layer begins to slide downward under the action of gravity, causing avalanche.

Some areas in the northern Tacheng area, the western Altay area, the southern suburbs of Urumqi City to Dabancheng, Changji Prefecture and other places have easterly winds of about level 5. Among them, winds are strong in the sea breeze areas of the Altay area, Urumqi City’s Wulabo and Hongyanchi areas. Around level 10, there is wind and snow in the local area.
